Services and support provided to students by Learning Spaces and Support include distribution of or assistance with:
The duplication and distribution of course packs and laboratory manuals are handled through Learning Spaces & Support. Distribution of materials is usually handled in one of three ways:
- notes are distributed in the student's mailboxes
- in class before a specific lecture
- for pick-up in the Learning Spaces & Support Main Office

Equipment and Supplies
Fisher Scientific offers a wide variety of products that make it easy for SOM students to purchase the products they need. Fischer Scientific Equipment is designed with quality and performance in mind. Fisherbrand consumables and Fisher Scientific lab equipment are available in 130 categories.
Equipment for Loan
A select inventory of scientific equipment are available for loan, when not in use by medical student program. The equipment is available in the laboratory services office, 2330 Scott Hall, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Mon-Fri). Equipment includes: microscopes, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, pen lights, reflex hammers, otoscopes, and portable ultrasound machines.
Prior to SOM Orientation, all students must complete their white coat order. Ladies will use their usual dress size and gentlemen will use their shirt or suit coat size (chest size).
Purchase Printing Pages (only applies to Y2, 3, and 4 students)
PaperCut (Student Printing Budget & Monitoring)
- Students are allotted 1,200 pages of printing per academic year. Students who have exhausted their printing quota or have less than 100 pages can purchase additional pages in the Learning Spaces & Support Main Office (2361 Scott Hall) at a cost of .05 cents per page. Purchases must be made in increments of 150 pages ($7.50). You will need to complete a Student Purchase Form, payment by check will be accepted at the main office (2361 Scott Hall). Once you purchase additional pages please allow 24 hours to process quota increase.

Audiovisual Services and Media Production
Audiovisual services includes the setup, pickup, operation and maintenance of all types of audiovisual equipment including but not limited to: LCD data/video projectors, video players/monitor units, laptop computer and conferencing phone systems.
If you require Audiovisual support or services, reservations need to be requested separately through Audiovisual Services and Media Production.
Required Student Modules (BLS/ HIPAA/ ELM)
Year I students are required to take Basic Life Support Training (BLS). This course is administered by the Department of Emergency Medicine. BLS training is the prerequisite to Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) taken in your second year. Learning Spaces & Support will provide you with the handouts and your schedule for the BLS training which covers two full days, the last day is testing. Upon successful completion, you will receive a BLS certification card which expires in two years.
