Learning Spaces and Support Unit
Learning Spaces and Support (LSS) is a unit within the Medical Education Support Group that provides a wide range of services to students, faculty, and staff. These services include the duplication and distribution of course materials, as well as comprehensive support for School of Medicine (SOM) spaces such as computer labs, classrooms, MD-Labs, recreational and relaxation lounges, the music room, fitness room, and meditation spaces.
LSS also manages SOM room reservations, medical supply and equipment rentals, and other curriculum-related services through the SOM Distribution Center, conveniently located at 2330 Scott Hall. Additionally, LSS oversees the administration of training programs such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
The division is organized into two main areas, each supporting the school’s education and research mission:
- Main Office: Responsible for overseeing operations, coordinating services, and managing the duplication and distribution of medical student lab guides and related materials. This office also handles student, faculty, and staff requests related to SOM teaching programs.
- Laboratory Services: Focused on supporting the preparation and setup of diverse learning sessions for medical education activities. This team maintains equipment and facilitates repairs for the 12 Multi-Discipline Laboratories (MD Labs), 12 Mazurek Classrooms, and 3 Mazurek Computer Labs, which serve as the primary learning spaces for first- and second-year medical students.
While each unit within the division has unique responsibilities, the entire Learning Spaces and Support team is dedicated to assisting with any issues related to the teaching program. If we are unable to address your specific request or question, we will connect you with someone who can.
